It's all fine and good to preach non-judgment and kindness, but what do you do when you're dealing with someone who is just downright terrible? I'm sure we can all think of someone we've interacted at some point who has been abrasive, rude, and resistant to criticism or change. Someone we just don't "get."
The first step to dealing with difficult people is to change our mindset. Instead of viewing them as the problem, view them as a symptom of the problem. These people grew up with a certain set of exposures that caused them to think this way. The problem is that the set of exposures exists, and the person is simply a symptom of that problem.
